In this Issue: Elizaband and Delaney Davidson play the Spotted Mallard, The Workers Club hosts Velma Grove, The Growl, DAN AND AMY and Lorde. Joy Division & New Order battle it out for Ding Dong Lounge’s WEEKENDER, Neon Trees also play at Ding Dong, The Northcote Social Club have The Cambodian Space Project, Lightning Tape Wolf play two shows in Geelong and Collingwood, Tex Perkins new band The Ape are at Cherry bar, Dj Butcher graces CANT SAY and Zoophyte have residency at The Espy.

ELIZABAND Launch Troubled Trees EP

Imagine Joy Division musicality with The Velvet Underground lyrics and you might get somewhere close to Rory Cooke’s alter ego,Elizaband. A singer songwriter whose unique brand of ‘DIY guitar art’ is coming to the Spotted Mallard to launch new EP Troubled Trees on April the 20th. Along with Chris Smith and Map Ends see Elizaband at 8.30pm with tickets sold at the door for $10.

Velma Grove single launch at The Workers Club

Sweet scented indie roots band Velma Grove are launching their latest single "Paper House" at The Workers Club in Fitzroy on the 8th of May. Their debut album Older is not set for release until July but to satisfy fans and preview the new material you can hear what they’ve been working on when the doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets are only $5 at the door or $7 with a copy of the new single.

One man ghost orchestra Delaney Davidson plays exclusive show in Melbourne

New Zealand’s own Delaney Davidson and his phantom band are coming to Melbourne and playing one exclusive show this may. The man and the mystery is coming to the Spotted Mallard with special guest Mojo Juju. If you believe the hype this multi-instrumentalist was kicked out of Special dreamers school at 14, learnt to drink whisky at the Rangiora Training Prison and was fired for urinating on the bar. If that doesn’t peak your curiosity nothing will so head to the Spotted Mallard, May the 18th to hear more musical debauchery.

Joy Division Versus New Order at the Ding Dong Lounge

This Friday at Ding Dong lounge’s WEEKENDER is the battle of the eighties bands with Joy Division being pitted up against New Order. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Blue Monday and 33rd Anniversary of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (good lord has it been that long), Ding Dong is showing some eighties new wave love, with plenty of hits from other artists and bands of the same genre.
Before 11.30pm Dirt Farmer is celebrating a single launch and then the WEEKENDER kicks off after. Entry is $10 on the door.

Neon Trees light up the Ding Dong Lounge in Melbourne

Utah synth-pop-rockers Neon Trees are returning to Melbourne for the first time in two years and playing the Ding Dong Lounge on the 15th of May 2013. Debuting songs off their latest album Picture Show and favourites from album Habits this will be one hell of a charismatic set.

The Cambodian Space Project play one show only

The Northcote Social Club is hosting The Cambodian Space Project this Sunday the 14th of April. A special matinee show starting at 1.30pm start your Sunday sesh early with a Dj kicking off the afternoon, Suzie Stapleton starts at 2pm and then The Cambodian Space Project start at 3.15pm.
Tickets are $18 + BF online or $22 at the door.

Lighting Tape Wolf from New Zealand invading Australian shores

Playing only two shows in Australia and both of them being in Victoria, Lightning Tape Wolf are hitting up Geelong and Collingwood the middle of May. Labelled ‘haunted surf trash’ with as much fuzzed as Shrek’s bellybutton, you don’t want to miss these two nights of insanity.

Supported both nights with The Bonniwells and Towelheads.

The Growl at The Workers Club

After touring with Tame Impala round Australia and America, The Growl are headlining their own show around Australia and playing in Melbourne on the 24th of April. Also announced are The Demon Parade who will be supporting them along with Brunswick’s punk-rockers Them Bruins. Come see them on their What Would Christ Do? tour and see what all the fuss is about.
Tickets $10 available on the door at The Workers Club. Doors open at 8.30pm.

Tex Perkins New Band ‘The Ape’ play Cherry Bar

Titled a ‘simple rock n’ roll band’ and ‘primitive filthy fun’ is all the information this press release will give us. For more information on Tex Perkins new band you’ll just have to head down to Cherry Bar this Saturday April the 13th.

Dj Butcher graces the Cant Say stage this weekend

Bass-heavy producer and turntablist Dj Butcher has been on tour and this weekend he’s hitting up Cant Say. Having crossed the country with the likes of Flosstradamus, Bro Safari and Diplo and after the success of his single ‘$werve’, now is the chance to see him playing Friday the 12th of April. Supported with the rest of the MAD DECENT crew, Swick and Young Men Dead, general admission is $20 or $15 with the password.

DAN AND AMY launch new single at The Workers Club

Brother and sister duo DAN AND AMY are playing The Workers Club to launch their first single "Talk". Revealing a rich, vibrant and textured sound, come see timeless folk music Wednesday the 17th of April. Supported by Rob Muinos from Saskwatch and Al Parkinson the first 50 people in get a copy of the new single free.

Entry is only $8 or $10 with the single.

Zoophyte play month-long residency at The Espy

High octane rock quartet Zoophyte have been perfecting their craft, supporting Eskimo Joe, Grinspoon and Tex Perkins. Gaining a great reputation for playing live you now have the chance to catch them playing every Monday the front bar at The Espy.

New Zealand’s Lorde is coming to Melbourne

It has to be a pretty talented to chick to have British singer Grimes exclaim “Holy f*ck this is so good” after hearing her music. So if you haven’t bought tickets to see Kiwi Lorde play at The Workers Club on Friday the 17th of May, time is running out. With praise also coming from Diplo after Lorde released her debut EP The Love Club, these shows will sell out.
